Air Namibia Baggage Policy - April, 2007

1)  Free Baggage Allowance permitted as follows:
..
Business class - 30KG
. Economy class - 20KG

2)  Infants: The checked baggage for infants not entitled to a seat shall be 10KG.

Carry-on baggage-infants: When an infant is carried in either a carrycot or carry seat, a baby holder including bedding, napkins, feeding bottles & sufficient food for the journey may be carried, free of charge, provided the total mass excluding the infant does not exceed 12KG.

Exception: When an infant is carried without the use of the aids mentioned, carriage is free of charge, provided the total mass, excluding the infant, does not exceed 6KG


3) Carry-on items:

The following are classified as carry-on items:
. .  Handbag, pocket book or purse
. .  Overcoat, wrap or blanket
. .  Umbrella or walking stick
. .  Small camera and/or binoculars
. .  Reading matter for flight
. .  Infant food for consumption during the flight
. .  Infant carry basket / carry cot
. .  Crutches (provided the passenger is dependent on them)
. .  Braces or prosthetic devices (provided the passenger is dependent on them)
. .  Portable PC - not to be activated without flight crew permission
. .  Cell phone - not to be utilized during the flight

In addition to the above carry-on items, passengers are allowed one piece of hand baggage with maximum dimensions:  115cm (length + height + width) and weight not exceeding 7KG

4) Carriage of pets: A pet and the container shall not be included in the free baggage allowance of the passenger.  The animal including the container shall be weighted, and the applicable excess baggage rate shall be charged accordingly.
 
Note:  If the final destination is South Africa, pets may not be accepted as checked baggage, but have to be handled as Cargo.

Notwithstanding the above, Air Namibia may accept for transportation in the cabin or the hold without charge a trained guide-dog to lead the blind or deaf when it accompanies a passenger with impaired vision and/or hearing who is dependent on such a dog. The dog, when properly harnessed, may be permitted to accompany such passenger into the cabin without occupying a seat.


5) BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE: 30kg for business class; 20 for economy class passengers.

In addition to the above, carry-on items, passengers are allowed one piece of hand baggage with maximum dimensions:  115cm (length + height + width) and weight not exceeding 7KG
.

6) Hunting Equipment & Trophies: Per licence holder, an additional free baggage allowance of 10KG applies over & above the normal baggage allowance for the class of service paid. Note: the licence (or hunting contract) has to be produced at check-in. Charge normal excess baggage rate, if exceeds.
 

Departures from FRANKFURT: Check-in is 3 hours prior to departure.

7) SW Excess Baggage Charges: Baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance as set out above, shall be charged per kilogram on SW services as follows:

The excess baggage charges apply to the highest normal direct adult one way economy class fare:
.  in effect on the date of issuance of the excess baggage ticket
.  in the direction of travel
.  from the point of which checked baggage allowance is exceeded to the first point at which baggage is collected by the passenger (excluding any transfer points).

The excess baggage charge per KG is 1.5% of the highest normal direct adult one way economy class (Y) fare...

The following flat Excess Baggage Charges apply on the services of Air Namibia.

Note:  Whenever baggage is interlined onto another carrier, baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance must be charged for in accordance with IATA baggage regulations.

8) Sporting Equipment Excess Baggage Rate:

Hunting Equipment & Trophies: Per licence holder, an additional free baggage allowance of 10KG applies over & above the normal baggage allowance for the class of service paid.

SPORTING EQUIPMENT EXCESS BAGGAGE RATE ON THE SERVICES OF AIR NAMIBIA

Scuba Equipment:
May be included in the free baggage allowance. Charge
normal excess baggage rate, if exceeds free baggage allowance. 


Snow Skiing & Water
- Skiing Equipment: Even if included in the free baggage allowance, a special charge equal to 3KG of the applicable excess baggage rate applies per set. If exceeds free baggage allowance, charge normal excess baggage rate PLUS above special charge.   

Paddle Skis:
Even if included in the free baggage allowance, a special charge equal to 5KG of the applicable excess baggage rate apples per set. If exceeds free baggage allowance,
charge normal excess baggage rate PLUS above special charge. 

Wind Surfer
: May not be included in the free baggage allowance. A special charge equal to 10KG of the applicable excess baggage rate applies per wind surfer.  

Bicycles
: May not be included in the free baggage allowance. A special charge equal to 5KG
of the applicable excess baggage rate applies per bicycle.
     

Fishing Equipment: May be included in the free baggage allowance. Charge normal excess baggage rate, if exceeds free baggage allowance.     

Golfing Equipment
: One set of golfing equipment consisting of one golf bag and one pair of golf shoes not exceeding 15KG will be accepted free of charge. Apply normal excess rates
for Golfing equipment in excess of 15KG.

Vaulting Poles
:
  May not be included in the free baggage allowance. A special charge equal to 5KG of the applicable excess baggage rate applies per vaulting pole.       

Paragliding Equipment
   May be included in the free baggage allowance. Charge normal excess baggage rate, if exceeds free baggage allowance.     

Hang gliding Equipment:
   Even if included in the free baggage allowance, a special charge equal to 5KG of the applicable excess baggage rate applies per hang glider. If exceeds free baggage allowance, charge normal excess baggage rate PLUS above special charge.
