RIFLES, AMMUNITION, & OTHER EQUIPMENT

We recommend a rifle in caliber 300 Magnum or slightly larger, fitted with a 6x40 scope and 80 rounds of soft point, preferably Nossler partition ammunition. It has been our experience that very few clients shoot well with much larger calibers. This is, however, a personal matter and we suggest that you use whatever comfortable with. If you are a keen wing shooter bring your favorite shotgun and approximately 80 shells in #7s. The Namibian authorities do not place any restrictions on the temporary importation of hunting rifles, shotguns and ammunition. You will receive a form to fill in on your arrival and the permit will be issued at he airport.

PLEASE NOTE: No pistols, revolvers, automatic or semi-automatic weapons may be imported into Namibia. Please also note that ammunition may not be transported in your rifle case. As you may be in transit through other countries it is important to note that some laws require ammunition to be transported in a lockable metal container. This is not a requirement in Namibia.

Should you prefer to travel without weapons, we have a fine selection of quality rifles and shotguns in camp for hire.

Do not forget your video camera, and still cameras, as well as an ample supply of film or large storage cards and batteries/chargers. A good pair of 8 x 40 binoculars is a necessity.
