GOVERNMENT AND ECONOMY: Namibia is a democratic republic whose President and Legislative members are elected by the general population. The political climate is one of moderation and stability. The economy is supported firstly by the mining industry (diamonds, uranium, gold and various metals) and secondly by livestock ranching, tourism, fishing and agriculture. The political climate and economy combine to create one of the most stable and prosperous countries in Africa.

VISA AND PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS: Namibian law requires that your passport be valid for a period of at least 6 months from the date of your arrival in Namibia. Citizens of the United States of America, as well as E. U. members countries (except Greece) do not require visas to visit Namibia.

LANGUAGES:  English is Namibia's official language. The Hunters Namibia team is also fluent in German and Dutch and can communicate in French, Portuguese and Italian.

CURRENCY: The Namibia Dollar exchanges at exactly the same rate as the South African Rand (ZAR). All major travelers' cheques, credit cards and US$ and Euro cash (except coins) are accepted throughout Namibia. Namibian banks are open from 9h00 to 15h30 on weekdays and from 9h00 to 11h00 on Saturdays. Use the currency converter above to calculate current rates.

MEDICAL: No special health requirements are prescribed for entry into Namibia. Malaria is not a threat in Hunters Namibia Safaris' hunting area, but it is suggested that you refer to your personal physician for advice on prophylactics and insect repellents. A comprehensive range of international brand name medicine is stocked in camp and on the hunting vehicles, but it is advised that you bring along the types of medication that you regularly take, or may require. A well equipped, professionally run government clinic is situated 15 minutes from the lodge. Medical facilities, including excellent private hospitals and internationally trained medical practitioners, specialists and surgeons, are available in Windhoek which is a one hour drive from the camp. In case of extreme medical emergency an airlift service is available. P.H.s Joof & Joof jr.,as well as the hunting assistants, are all qualified in First Aid.

WATER: The water at Hunters Namibia Safari Lodge is pumped from boreholes more than 100m underground into sealed water tanks, and then filtered before being pumped to the lodge. The quality, purity and taste of the water are excellent.

TROPHY SHIPMENTS AND TAXIDERMY: Clients trophies are usually delivered to the shipping agent 30 days after the completion of the safari, and should therefore reach their destination within 6 weeks of that date. The cost of taxidermy work in Namibia is affordable, the quality of the workmanship is excellent, and the end product very realistic as Namibian taxidermists are totally familiar with the features and expressions of our local game. There is very little difference in the weight, and therefore the cost of shipping raw or mounted trophies. The current completion time for mounts is about 12 months. Hunters Namibia Safaris will gladly obtain quotations for you from their personal local taxidermist.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU: Now that you know more about Hunters Namibia Safaris, please allow us to tell you what we expect of you, our valued hunting client and partner in conservation. We would like you to be in the best physical shape that your situation and condition will allow. If you need any specific medication, or have any special requirements, we expect you to inform us so that we may plan accordingly, in order to make your safari as successful and comfortable as possible. We also expect you to be able to shoot your rifle or bow well, and to ensure that it is in perfect working order. There is no substitute for practice, so please do some shooting and exercise before you come on safari.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a non-hunter who is planning to accompany your hunting spouse or friend, or if, as a prospective hunter, you have further questions, special needs or specific concerns regarding our accommodations, cuisine or other issues not covered here, we encourage you to visit Marina Lamprecht's page, where you will find articles and contact information to assist you.

We wish you good hunting. Always remember that conservation depends largely on your support as a hunting client. Without your support conservation areas such as ours would not be possible.

We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful country soon!
